Now Hix is gone do the rest of you want a notorious dark wizard roaming around unwatched and unchecked? Any volunteers to amuse me by attempting to be my temporary warden?

Admiral, I want my powers returned to me as they were when I arrived. That's only fair.

[Private to Arthas and Frostmourne]

Did you frighten Hix that much that he had to flee?

It was something he felt had to be done, was it not?

Without much thought for yourself. As you said, you don't enjoy murder. He always did have a selfish streak.

Does it make it any less reprehensible that I had his permission?

Assisted suicide is still murder.

It wasn't quite that either though.

Grand plans. Manipulations. He really didn't change very much.

I could be angry at you for what you did, you realise, but I know all too well what he could be like.

You presume to know me and my relationship with him based on what could amount to little vignettes of conversations, taken from a book written from the viewpoint of a child.

You think this absolution you've given me is any comfort for the fact that I murdered him? He was a manipulative bastard, so it's all right? Yes, I'll sleep better nights knowing I have Gellert Grindelwald's seal of approval.

I'm not approving of your actions. I just understand he had a master plan, as did I. His involved some disagreeable things and he asked a great deal of you, if those fictionalised accounts are in any way accurate.

I know as much about your true relationship with him as you do of my relationship with him. Which is to say: very little.

Which is why I prefer it this way, speaking to you directly.

His plan may have involved some disagreeable things, but the alternative was much less preferable.

By that I presume you mean his plans with myself.

Or the way your own path was heading.

To be honest I don't see what any of you could have seen in Voldemort. Oh, as a youth I'm sure he was charming but later? Smart to turn against him, whatever your reason.

Things that seem like good ideas at first quickly lose their shine when people start dying - and then loyalty becomes motivated by fear.

So you agree that he was an egotistical fool?

I saw him once in person and all he seemed to be was... flustered. It was amusing, really.
subtlescience: (Eyeroll)

He was.

I suspect he was flustered because he expected you to be dead.

I'm sure it happened more than one would think; I saw one such incident. If memory serves, he's in St. Mungo's Janus Thickey Ward.

A reckless thing to do. At least I was aware he would attempt to kill me for the effrontery.

You were lucky enough to have him confront you himself. One of the Carrows was responsible for the other.

I couldn't say which Carrow, though; they're actually quite difficult to tell apart.

An unpleasant lot you got yourself caught up with...

I suppose I should be grateful he killed me quickly, after he finally realised in his frustration that I wasn't going to give him any information he desired. Not that he needed that much provoking.

The other lot wasn't exactly pleasant, either, at the time.

I'm surprised he didn't try to extract the information.
