[On Frostmourne's advice, Gellert had gone to Arthas' room in his absence - before anyone else had been told what had happeneed - and stolen the box containing the sword away. He was surprised at how easy it was. He had been informed of Hix's incapacity and he had been vaguely concerned about this but he hadn't been in the frame of mind to care too much at that time. Now Hix was gone completely.]

[Once he'd got back to his room he'd hidden the box away. Now that many were away at the port it seemed to be a prime opportunity to have some privacy and so he set the box down on a table in his room and studied it curiously. He knew it was locked under some enchantments and he thought if only he had his magical abilities he could open it - his confidence was that great that he thought given the chance he could break Hix's spells, if he had the actual power to do so. At the moment he remained powerless in the magical sense so he only had his wits and intelligence to figure out the solution to this particular dilemma.]

[Well, if nothing else, he thought, it was something to occupy his mind with. He traced his fingers over the top of the box, frowning with thought.]

[der boxen]

[At such close proximity, Frostmourne's voice is oil and honey - it echoes of comfort and reassurance and confidence, old flames and childhood friends and beloved leaders, all without making a sound.]

There are two ways to approach this, as the box is warded both from the inside and the outside. Breaking the outer wards would allow you in, while breaking the inner ones...

Did you hear what Hix did at all when he sealed you inside?

GDI okay my power went out. THANKS, TREE BRANCH.

It's all based around the lock - there's almost nothing in the wood itself, except I believe a ward to prevent one from breaking or burning it so long as the lock is attached. The black metal is Octiron, negatively charged with the arcane. As best I can estimate from my...attempts... it is an equal and opposite force to whatever positive magic is used on it.

[Gellert knocks on it as if testing for the thinnest areas or any flaws.]

If I had my magic I could do some tests... So you have tried to break out yourself?

I have. I cannot be sure whether it is truly the wards or simply the Barge's natural drain on certain powers.

Probably both.

[Gellert runs his hands lightly across the box's sides. He can't sense anything particularly helpful but he's not sure if it's because of Hix's different kind of magic of if it's his own current lack of powers.]

[He remarks idly.] I can hear you much clearer here.

I have been told it is something like actual speech once you are accustomed to it; it is clearer with proximity.

How successful have you been in the past with all your persuading thoughts?

How do you define "successful"? I always uphold my end of the deal, if that's what you mean.

Do most people take up your offers?

[The impression of a laugh, musical and warm.]

I rarely get the chance to speak to people, actually. Rarer still is the occasion when I seek a new master, but usually it is not so much of an offer - they come to me.

Unless and until I can open this box all we have is conversation.

I would guarantee that if I was at my full power I would be able to find some counter-spell to Hix's wards, no matter what he has done here. One thing I was always good at was figuring out magical solutions to such problems.

Conversation will keep us both sane, I don't doubt. I don't know how you stood being alone for so long. I have my own thoughts, but they only go so far without events, discussions, new ideas...

Very unfortunate that such a lenient warden should break so easily, though.

[There is a tinge of Arthas' voice in the last few words, snarling angrily, though the voice of the sword remains coolly sympathetic.]

Hm. Is there another onboard who may have the power you need?

[Gellert continues to examine the box as he speaks.]

Perhaps I did go a little mad while I was in that prison. Much as I do enjoy some time alone I can also be quite social.

There is nobody here from my world who would be of any use. Wardens, both.

We can always bide our time and hope for a cerrtain type of flood.

Can you contact Hix now that he has left the Barge?
