Addressed to the Admiral but viewable to all

Dear Admiral, I wish to be sent back to my world.

People here are quick to threaten and attack but if I offer help of any form - and I have numerous times - they either reject it or ignore it. I understand about learning patience but they prefer others suffer prolonged illness or injury instead of taking some extra help? Isn't that just simple cruelty?

I am sure you can pick and choose what powers to return to me. If I could perform simple healing spells and make healing potions then I feel I could be of a great help to the overstressed infirmary staff. However, as they are all ignoring me - unless it is to insult or threaten - then I come directly to you, since I am currently wardenless.

If the answer is no then you, dear Admiral, are as cruel as the rest and do like to see people suffering here. That would not surprise many of us here.

So, I wish my basic healing powers returned or send me back to my home.

I completely understand that this is not an ultimatum considering you will likely say NO to both - but then they had better not expect any sympathy from me if they complain again that people are hurt and dying and they can't cope when it can be fixed more easily in the aftermath with a little magic.

swing just feels like trolling.

Gods, you are such a wizard.

Re: XD

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Wizards seem to have an attitude that 'everything'd be so much better if you'd just let me use my magic. Because everyone else is so incapable of doing it themselves and they must need someone with my shiny shiny magical powers to help'.

Which is basically what you're saying. I think the medical staff are beyond capable.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to disagree. A fellow inmate here also thinks that it is pointless to have to suffer for prolonged periods with this Muggle medicine when I could help out and have these people healed in a much quicker time.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, a fellow inmate agrees. That makes it a perfectly good idea.

And what idiot would trust you with actual healing? As far as I'm aware, doctors have to have some... ancient Ephebian oath thing so they don't try and kill folks and all that. I'm not letting some random wizard heal me for anything, and I'm used to going to doctors in backstreets at home.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A fellow inmate who is not a wizard and is going through a nasty death toll, so yes, I think they do count.

I am not an official healer but I do know many good healing spells and potions I could make. I do not see why I shouldn't be trusted to help - if I am not given any chances how does anyone expect me to learn or to be a better person?

Besides if I am only given the powers to heal back then what harm can it do?

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I really don't care about you learning or being a better person. I care about a criminal, an inmate and someone who hasn't sworn the same oath as a doctor being put in charge of treating people directly.

Even if they let you heal, which I really hope they don't, I don't want you anywhere near me. I'd think most people would agree.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Then that is their and your decision if they and you want to suffer unduly. I did heal one warden here without incident when I had some of my powers.

Just because I have a negative reputation doesn't mean I cannot also do some good.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
This has nothing to do with your reputation, it has to do with you not having a medical degree or the ethics of a doctor. That's what it has to do with.

Go help in the infirmary, like all the other inmates have to.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Without magic I would be more a hinderance than a help.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, come on, I was made to work in there. I don't think anyone is actually a hinderance. You don't need magic to be useful. The rest of us get along just fine without.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't say I'd be a hinderance everywhere but I am not so agile anymore in an emergency.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So how much use are you, even with your magic.

Gods, even Hix could run.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Hix was young. I am a mortal man well over a hundred years old. While the Admiral saw fit to fix my body to a decent health - since I was barely able to stand in the condition I was in before I arrived here - that still does not make me overly sprightly.

If I had a much younger body then perhaps I could be of more help without magic.

If I had all my magic I could easily take over this ship.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
You're doing a very good job of undermining your own demand for your powers, by the way.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I am aware of that but I'm sure the Admiral is also aware of my powers, which is why I am only requesting certain harmless powers back - to be helpful to others.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
But here's the thing. I wouldn't trust anyone with medicine, and the ability to give and with-hold treatment who had said they were capable, and probably willing, to take over the ship.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Just because someone doesn't say they can doesn't mean they can't. Shouldn't honesty count for something?

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
As should potential intent. I wouldn't trust an inmate who was a doctor to do their job without serious doubts, so I wouldn't trust you. It's not the same as just working in the infirmary helping.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
I have no intention of trying to take over this place. I am only saying that if I had all my powers I am sure that I could.

I do not want to work in there regularly. With the disappearance of their regular potions maker I thought they made need a replenishment of such and if I had my healing spells available then they could be used in emergencies, say to prevent people bleeding to death in the halls.

The Muggle doctors are capable, surely, but they are also very slow at times. I do think it ridiculous that they refuse my help time and time again.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
And I hope they keep doing so, at least whilst you have no warden to properly vouch for you.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
So you and they do prefer everyone to suffer needlessly.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
No, I prefer to be able to trust those giving me medical treatment.

[identity profile] wandthief.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
That is your decision. Some others may like to make the choice for themselves.

[identity profile] pleasesmirk.livejournal.com 2010-06-25 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm fairly sure most people like to be able to trust their doctors.
