I am graduating.

My warden has just informed me, so no, this is not a joke. Whatever you may think of my past misdeeds I have accounted for them now.

I have been granted a little time to say my goodbyes.

I appreciate the help that a select few have given me here. I'm sure that you know who you are.

Farewell.

Thank you.

You are a warden, correct? I would say that compassion and patience are important to show to your inmate. And don't back down if they are stubborn.

What tipped you over the edge?

The last flood. Seeing the face of the man I'd perhaps most wronged. It brought up the regret I'd denied before.

But there have been many little things along the way that did help toward my progress.

Conversations with different people, mostly. Learning to accept things as they are.

I'm sure it's different for every inmate though. Being open to it I think is also key.

A number of inmates have directly said they do not wish to graduate at all so you will have trouble with those ones especially. I have tried very hard here to learn and grow, to achieve this end. Most do not try at all.
