23 - Being helpful (and a little cheeky)?

With the prior knowledge and permission of my warden I am offering up my services as a wizard to all of you. I can perform many helpful charms - such as giving you pleasant dreams in your sleep or duplicate a treasured item or make you feel more cheerful or even making you more attractive. Most of these will wear off over a limited amount of time but there are many other possibilities.

So request away! If I cannot do it I will let you know. But you won't know unless you ask.

Also, some requests may require a potion instead of a charm which may take a little longer but I will endevour to fulfil any requests that are within my power.


[Inmate filter - set up with a minor curse that any inmate who reveals this part to any warden will end up with a nasty rash and much annoying itching for a day or two.]

I will also perform harmless pranks on your wardens or fellow inmates but I do not want it getting back to my warden that I am the source of that particular mischief as he has very little sense of humour.

And yes, I do mean relatively harmless tricks - for example I can confuse them for a day; change their appearance in various ways for a short time; make them uncomfortable - perhaps by feeling itchy, ticklish or having to dance. These are mere examples. Ask me and I'll tell you if it can be done.

Sorry, I won't magically rip out their intestines for you, even though I do know how.

Oh, I do not want any payment for my offers here.

I only know what I have read about the Malfoys in those books. I presume you know of them?

I could try to conjure a photo but I know it will be fragile - it will disappear in perhaps a few days time which could be mroe distressing for the boy... Maybe you could ask the Admiral for a real photgraph instead? I have made a request in the past for photographs through my own warden and have received them. It may be a more stable solution.

I can, however, perform a comforting charm on him.

This is true. Perhaps he is too fragile to benefit from a transient, though tangible, effect. Intangible, however, might give him the confidence needed to move forward, at least to begin with.

What must I do to employ this comforting charm?

I shall first attempt to request a photograph from the Admiral; if I am unsuccessful, then we shall see what we can do from there.

I can tell you that he works in the kitchen or, at least, ought to be, grumble grumble during the lunch hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. He shall be there tomorrow.

I can't thank you enough for this. Even if he keeps no lasting effect from it, he will at least have a short respite from his demons.
